Some things that surprised me today September 2, 2009

Well, I saw this book cover. And it made me happy.
I saw this book cover.And I was thoroughly frightened. I’ve seen it before, but I guess I forgot how truly scary it is. (Btw, that book is so not worth reading. As a matter of fact, reading it may make you lose all faith in young adult books.)
I was also skimming through The Queen of Attolia(AWESOME BOOK!) by Megan Whalen Turner earlier, and I cannot get over how amazing this part is. (Okay, there are about ten million amazing parts in that book, but this one was really standing out earlier.)
“Attolia saw his smile, without any hint of self-effacement or flattery or opportunism, a smile wholly unlike that of any member of her court, and she hit him across the face with her hand. His head rocked on his shoulder. He made no sound but sank to his knees…”
How wow is that?

It gives you shivers reading it. Those are amazing books. (The Attolia ones)
I have held an ARC of Calamity Jack. And it’s gorgeous. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the interior with color because it was still in black and white.
*is jealous of Q*
I can’t wait to get around to rereading The Queen of Attolia. Next is Forest Born, though…(I think to reread books before they’re technically released.
)
i finally bought forest born today. the bookstore had it, but i had to ask one of the workers, and we had to go on a search, but eventually i got it. And I’m glad.
Queen of Attolia has got to be one of my fav reads! That excerpt was intense!
And what is this Kathleen Duey book? I’ve never even heard of it! “In the eye of the storm, a love beyond limitation” ?? That sounds… gag-inducing? But I love Kathleen Duey’s other books so this I’m still tempted to flip through it.
That excerpt made me want to reread the Queen of Attolia.
I’ve never heard of the Louisiana Hurricane book (and I don’t plan on reading it) but I’ve read another one of Kathleen Duey’s books (Skin Hunger) and it was pretty good.
